Windsurfers is a sculpture designed for the entrance hall of the Högsby Health Center in Sweden. In the 1970s, the first windsurfing boards arrived in Sweden. But for thousands of years, the seeds of the linden tree have been “windsurfing” through the air of Kalmar. Each linden seed has a leaf that functions like a sail, carrying the seed far from the parent tree.
The Windsurfers sculpture consists of sixteen linden seeds arranged in a spiral. The “sails” are made of laser-cut birch plywood, while the “nuts” are made of laser-cut brass. Thanks to a swivel that rotates 360 degrees, the artwork turns gently with the air currents in the room.
