Increased focus on environmental issues and health beneficial design strategies have raised interest in natural and renewable building materials. In this literature review, the effects of wooden building materials on measured and perceived indoor environment quality were investigated. The main effects of focus were the emissions of chemical compounds, the moisture buffering effect, and psychological and physiological reactions. Results indicated that wood can cause some negative effects but the effects on indoor environment quality are mainly positive.
