Abstrakti

Employers’ commitment to employee health is vital for work-life balance. This chapter emphasises their role in providing a safe and healthy work environment to support employee wellbeing. Interior office design, often overlooked, can significantly contribute to supporting wellbeing by, for example, promoting comfort, aiding stress recovery, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. This conceptual chapter explores key design parameters, such as spatial layout, materials, lighting, and furnishings, and their possible impact on wellbeing aspects like stress levels and physical comfort. It also provides an overview of practical methods for assessing employees’ perception of office space to diagnose shortcomings of the environment and evaluate the effects of design solutions. The knowledge presented in this chapter helps to align the work environment with health objectives and can guide future research and educational efforts.
