SPACE INVADERS V - TOLERANCE, Hiedanranta, Lielahti mansion

The fifth Space Invaders exhibition-event takes over Tampere and precisely Hiedanranta district in a form of a school camp in 17.–21.5.2017. Theme for this years Space Invaders is Tolerance. The subject will be approached as a historical phenomenon, in relation to recent confrontations and conflicts in the Finnish society. Concept is also explored through spatial thinking and in the context of working as an artist or urban activist in temporary spaces. How far can tolerance extend and what are we willing to tolerate? The old factory set up and its nature partly destroyed by factory production will add yet another layer to artistic research. What can the environment tolerate? Space Invaders will bring a group or researchers and artists to the future residential area Hiedanranta that is currently under a massive development and urban planning. Site-specific multidiscliplinary approaches create a gesamtkunstwerk that is open to public. Space Invaders V is organized together with University of Tampere course Väliaikanen Hiedanranta.
