The works in the Seascapes exhibition are modern interpretations of the sea and its diversity, both above and below the surface. Tapestries made with different techniques paint marine views with textures, materials and patterns. They arouse the viewer to think about the diversity of the sea, and the role of human in its conservation.

The works play with elements of reproduction and repetition, which create images of the changing nature of the sea. Some of the textile works are dyed with natural dyes, in collaboration with the BioColour research project on bio-based dyes (Academy of Finland Strategic Research No. 327330 (https://biocolour.fi/). The natural blue comes from Woad-plant, cultivated in Finland by Natural Indigo Finland (https://en.naturalindigo.fi/).
Some of the works have been made in collaboration with the Dutch EE Exclusives and Knitwear Lab.

The exhibition is a collaboration between architect Juha Kivistö and textile and knitwear designer Anna-Mari Leppisaari. It is based on a dialogue between the fields of art they represent.
