N2 - A three detector positron annihilation lifetime spectrometer for γ-emitting radioactive materials has been constructed and successfully tested. The equipment operates in triple-coincidence mode in order to reject the false coincidence due to the radioactive background generated when dealing with radioactive samples. The spectrometer has been optimized and tested by comparison of the results of well-known material with and without high background radiation. The time resolution of 155 ps is achieved. This paper reports on the design, stability and performance of this new spectrometer.
