The Indian Ocean, the Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea. In Noisescape, a multitude of undulating images meet an undulating surface, and a hand-drawn line meets a computer-generated one.
Created to celebrate the beauty of waves, Noisescape comprises a wave sculpture projected with images. It is inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s animations, the glory of the natural world and holidays spent swimming in warm waters.
“My work explores the relationships between space, light, colour and movement and the associations evoked by the tiniest of changes in them. I want to create art that allows me to share this process of observation and wonderment with others.”
Teemu Määttänen has produced a number of projected installations for galleries and light art festivals. Since 2006, he has worked as a media, set and lighting designer in the fields of dance and theatre.
