The exhibition showcases creativity in research work. Often the first sketches are hand drawn. When you draw, what you have on your mind becomes visible to both yourself and other people. You can share your ideas with others without words. Drawing helps to generate, explore and develop ideas. The magic of drawing is that something surprising might happen, because through drawing you think in a new way. Sometimes you don't know what to draw. At the drawing exhibit, which was designed by Marika Tervahartiala, a visual art educator and researcher at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture, the public gets inspiration for drawing and can try drawing together.
In research work, new knowledge is often created through experimentation. Based on the previous research experiments, new, slightly different experiments can be carried out, and thus even more precise information is created. Failed experiments are also useful because they too produce information. At the exhibition, you can try producing electrical energy with your own body. You can also try to imagine a room where all electricity is produced by humans. The exhibit was designed by Postdoctoral Researcher Ramyah Gowrishankar who works at Aalto University’s School of Electrical Engineering and in the Mobile Cloud Computing research group.
The information on artistic outputs in the Aalto Research Portal follows the reporting guidelines of Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture. Therefore, each contribution requiring independent artistic activity is reported separately. For full details of the work and its contributors, please refer to information provided by the publisher.
