Abstrakti

Electronic stability control (ESC) has been developed particularly during the present century. The first purpose of thisstudy is to offer software engineering students the opportunity to familiarizethemselves with state-of-the-art technology. Line followers are used inmultiple applications in the industry. The second purpose of this study is tooffer a basis for developing line follower-like technologies. These may, forexample, include camera-based navigation and inter-vehicle communication. Aremote controlled miniature vehicle was modified to act as the physical basisfor the development platform. The modification included the addition of a motorto each wheel allowing them to be controlled individually. A servo motorhandled the steering. An on-board computer was installed that ran the ESCprogram and combined it with the wireless signal from the user. Results of thestudy prove that ESC technology is scalable and the development platform meetsthe requirement of an optional control method.
