Indivíduo, bairro, família: uma reflexão sobre a comunidade do Bairro da Quinta Grande, Lisboa

The purpose of this thesis is to relate the construction of the contemporary individual, with its experience in the community, and through artistic practice register this reflective process. Through the analysis of some artists, who work the issue of “living-together”, I try to clarify and highlight the link that art has in community intervention. Through three projects developed with young people from an inner city neighbourhood of Lisbon, I intend these youngsters to think about the space they occupy on a daily basis and what role this has on their development as active members of society. Concepts such as authorship, community intervention, art and society and art as an ethnographic tool of record, are some of the thematics that will addressed throughout this research.
