Abstrakti

Sustainable and efficient electrochemical energy storage has been invoked as a reliable solution to tackle the global climate change and energy availability through intermittent sources. In this scenario, hybrid flow batteries (Hybrid-FBs) are an attractive solution for medium and large-scale applications. Their inexpensive and Earth abundant active materials as well as easily-recyclable components, warrant their rapid penetration on the energy markets as a cost-effective technology. Herein, a technological overview and real-environment applications of Hybrid-RFBs are presented, providing the latest advances, future challenges and development opportunities to fulfil the requirements of the electrical grid modernization.
