Abstrakti

The three Human Cities exhibitions held at Aalto University in September, 2017, display three different scales of participatory design: European, Finnish and Global. The integrative theme in the role of Aalto University in all of these exhibitions has been structural, systemic, contextually sensitive social innovations for user-based architecture.

The main exhibition in Dipoli showcases the Human Cities projects throughout Europe made by the participating Human Cities network members. This continental scale displays versatile approaches towards contemporary collaborative design in European scale, where active urbanism shows its diverse characteristics. The specific Finnish contribution aims to increase the possibilities of children to access and participate the city and improve their social learning through the School as a Service project.
