Full House is an interactive political talk show for TV and cross media. The audience can affect the TV show through Internet and/or mobile connections (SMS and 3G), find information about election candidates, ask them questions et cetera. Both the candidates and viewers get a Full House character by answering the questionnaire. In the demonstration we have currently three politically archetypal character sets: the Reds, Greens and Blues. In addition to being an entertaining show, Full House is also a tool to help select the best matching candidate from, in some cases, thousands of candidates. Its aim is to make politics more transparent and discover the hidden agendas of politicians by a play of comparison between them and the archetypal character sets. Through such a character-based representation the system dramatises the answers of the candidates in comparison to the answers of the other candidates - and the audience (Tuomola 1999). The service is best suited for elections with plenty of candidates like parliamentary, EU and local elections. In Crucible Studio, Media Lab, University of Art and Design, election engines (also known as candidate selectors) have been researched and developed in three research projects: Election Star, In the Hood and Arkkikone (Intelligent Cities FP6 IST2004) on which one can obtain more material at http://crucible.uiah.fi/ (follow the ‘Productions’ link).
