The Digitalisation has rapidly developed into one of the main drivers of change in higher education (HE) and language learning in Finland. Consequently, there are multiple active ministry-funded national projects that have been initiated to support this development. One of them is DIGIJOUJOU, the main aim of which is to develop digital pedagogy and materials for teaching Finnish and Swedish (both official national languages in Finland) to be utilised both at universities and universities of applied sciences. In this paper, we introduce a development of the course Tyoelaman suomi ('Finnish for professional needs'), which was created by combining materials produced in DIGIJOUJOU sub-project. In particular, we will outline practical means by which we have aimed to enhance teacher's presence and availability for students in an online setting. Observations from course pilot and future developments for the course format are discussed.
