abstract = "Pack-Age is an innovative and extensive packaging design course uniting design, business and engineering thinking to sustainability and project-based learning. Students work in interdisciplinary teams with real projects from the industry. Creative problem-solving is a key concept. The idea is to use student{\textquoteright}s background and prior knowledge as a resource for creative group work. The project work is supported by a wide range of theme lectures. By collaborating with different schools we are able to offer a more complete understanding and more innovative packaging design approach including various perspectives to creativity, branding, prototyping and production, retail and service strategy, needs of different stakeholders, consumer expectations and user experience. Teachers from Aalto ARTS, Aalto BIZ, Aalto CHEM, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Helsinki University partner up to provide insightful theme lectures and workshops for our students. We also invite various international specialists, designers and researchers from the industry to provide topical lectures. Our teaching themes include: Visual Communication Design & Branding, User-Centered Design & User Experience, Packaging Materials and Engineering, Sustainable Product Design, Marketing & Consumer Research, Packaging Development and Model making Pack-Age is intended for students who are interested in learning packaging design in a fun way as a part of multidisciplinary team working with a real design challenge. Pack-Age prepares students for a project-based working and cooperation of different fields. The learning content consists of theme lectures and workshops as well as independent and supervised group work. Excursions are also part of the program. Participating students learn how to design, communicate, evaluate, test and justify their solutions. They will learn to understands packaging on systemic level from many different perspectives and also adopt good project work practices and learn how to collaborate with various stakeholders.",
