Abstrakti
The present chapter proposes a multimodal approach in order to transcend the seemingly restricted dualism of costume as a conceptual product vs. costume as a physical product of cultural representation. It proposes the research of costume from three perspectives: as a physical object embedding certain features and meanings; as a set of ideas taking a tangible form based on creative thinking (on an individual as well as collective level, through collaboration); and as embodied experience expressed through memory. To discuss this, the chapter employs a specific case as the context for the analysis: the costume collection of a professional dance company from Greece.
