    Ushnah Amjad (MA) is a fashion design researcher, interested in studying transitions in the fashion system against technological advancements and their ramifications for fashion design, production, dissemination, consumption, engagement and education. Her discourse is driven by questions of social and cultural sustainability, particularly inquiring inclusion, decoloniality and demarginalizing in the current Western fashion landscape.

    Her research focus is digital (anti)imperialism and fashion. In her doctoral work, she is investigating fashion practices in the digitalized and datafied society and their impact on representation. She is probing how the contemporary transformations in the field create a space for de(colonizing), discrimination or inclusion of diverse groups.

    She is a research member of the Design Culture Research Group in the Department of Design at Aalto University and a part of the research consortium Intimacy in Data-Driven Culture (IDA). Her other affiliations include the network of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Research at Aalto University.
