Poria Astero is a renowned researcher and the PI of the CloudInertia project, which is funded by the Academy of Finland. Based at Aalto University's Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Poria's research focuses on the control and stability of power systems dominated by inverter-based productions, including grid-following and grid-forming technologies.

With a PhD in Electrical Engineering, awarded in 2012, Poria has gained extensive experience working in various industrial and academic sectors, contributing to research, business, and market development of energy systems. Poria has led several research and innovation projects as the PI, work package leader, or task leader. Notably, he served as the Northern Demonstrators Work Package Leader for In OneNet and iFLEX, two large EU projects aimed at developing an end-to-end, multi-purpose, cross-border, TSO/DSO coordinated, market-driven, and holistic solution for flexibility and new services provisions.

In addition to his research work, Poria has experience in developing innovative and AI-based software products to facilitate green energy transition. He is currently the Principal R&D PSE at Reactive-Technologies Ltd, leading the technical solutions related to system strength and inertia monitoring systems.

Poria's research activities are centered on power system stability and control, integration of renewable energy sources, power system planning, and the energy market. Furthermore, he is a certified "Senior Project Manager, IPMA Level B," with extensive expertise in leading demanding and complex projects.
