Johanna Viitanen

I am an assistant professor at Aalto University, Department of Computer Science. My research interests lie in the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and health informatics. In my research, I utilize human-centred design approach, including qualitative and quantitative research methods, to evaluate and design digital systems and services.

I lead the Human-Centred Health Informatics (HCHI) research group, which brings together research enthusiasts from various fields such as engineering, design, medicine, nursing and psychology. The topics of our research include:

• Usability of health information systems
• User experiences of health and social care workers
• Patient experience
• Usability in the procurement of IT systems.

Our future research interests are related to the usability and user experiences of AI in the context of health and social care work.
