Public Works in Nineteenth-Century Trento: A FAIR Dataset of Urban Interventions in Piazza del Duomo and Its Surroundings

This dataset provides a specialized digital inventory of historical public works and urban interventions exclusively centered on Piazza Duomo in Trento (Italy) and its immediate surroundings. Rather than a general survey of the entire city, this collection focuses on the micro-historical evolution of Trento's monumental core during the 19th century.

The geometric data presented in this collection is derived from the survey campaign “PALAZZO PRETORIO IN TRENTO: ARCHITECTURAL SURVEY AND DIGITAL REPRESENTATION” (2022–2023), commissioned by the Museo Diocesano Tridentino and conducted by the Laboratory of Architectural Analysis and Modeling, Representation and Communication (LAMARC) of the Università di Trento.

Data Formats:
1) trento_public_works_original.csv: a detailed CSV containing historical names (Italian/English), precise coordinates, and the professional figures involved (engineers, architects). It is a "flat" descriptive file optimized for human readability and standard GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software.
2) trento_public_works_cidoc_crm.csv: a semantically enriched file mapped to the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (ISO 21127:2023). This version is designed for the Semantic Web and Linked Open Data integration.
3) trento_public_works.ttl: the core semantic dataset in RDF/Turtle format, mapped using the CIDOC CRM ontology.
4) mets.xml: a Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard file providing the structural map and descriptive metadata (MODS) for the entire dataset, ensuring long-term preservation and machine-readability.
5) model_Cazuffi_Rella_fountain.glb, model_preview_Cazuffi_Rella_fountain.mp4, model_double_staircase_della_Legna_square.glb, model_preview_double_staircase_della_Legna_square.mp4: 3D point cloud models in .glb format, with .mp4 previews, representing historical or monumental structures, derived from experimental 3D digital survey campaigns conducted using low-cost instruments within the framework of the following publications:
