Description
This paper extends understanding of bio-based packaging (BBP) implementation by drawing on the existing theory on supply chain complexity. We examined two BBP solutions as our case studies, selecting the end-product manufacturer’s perspective to analyze supply chain complexity and its implications for BBP adoption. Our findings reveal that BBP has the most significant influence on upstream and internal manufacturing complexities. Moreover, our comparative analysis shows that BBP implementation can decrease supply chain complexity in a manner that supports BBP adoption. This paper also provides insights for managers to consider supply chain complexity in the design of sustainable packaging solutions.Aikajakso | 5 heinäk. 2021 → 7 heinäk. 2021 |
