Abdullah Qureshi presents an overview of his practice, addressing the significance of the autobiography, traumatic pasts, and sexuality in his painting, along with selected curatorial projects and his on-going doctoral project, entitled 'Mythological Migrations: Imagining Queer Muslim Utopias Through Contemporary Art' - which, responds to an urgent need to recognize queer Muslim voices and challenges rampant Islamophobia in Europe by contextualizing narratives of Muslim LGBTIQ+ refugees and asylum seekers in Finland in Islamic history, mythologies, and contemporary art.
