Abstract
An exhibition of prototypes of state-of-the-art textiles, clothing and fashion innovations from Aalto. These aren't design science fiction: they’re already well on their way to becoming reality.
At the moment, the global fashion industry is a source of massive negative environmental impacts and severe social issues. It’s clear that the time has come for the textiles, clothing and fashion industry to completely reinvent itself. But transitioning from an outdated fashion system towards something new means influencing a multitude of dynamic components. How can a systemic change be achieved?
In this exhibition, we show and tell how Aalto is contributing to a systemic shift in the textile, fashion and clothing industry. The exhibition pinpoints some of the critical components of the fashion ecosystem and value chain, and we have curated a collection of state-of-the-art textiles, clothing and fashion innovations for display. These prototypes are not design science fiction, they’re already well on their way of becoming reality.
