Processes of producing the metallic manganese and ferrochrome have been considered. Ore-smelting furnaces are used in this case. Technologies of carbothermy and silicothermal reduction are applied. Silicon and carbon are utilized as the reducing agents. Losses of carbon and silicon are observed in the processes. In order to determine reasons for the losses, mathematical models of the processes have been developed with the use of regression equations. Empiric information has been used. Calculations of parameters of the processes have been performed with the use of the model. Results of the calculations have shown that losses of carbon and silicon are connected with actions of H2O, CO2, and O2.
