Abstract
This publication examines how the built environment affects the perception of safety and feelings of security. This was done by looking at four central themes of safety and security in the living environment: social safety nets, prevention of crime and vandalism, prevention of accidents, and traffic safety.
The publication is targeted at planners, experts, policy makers, residents, and others who are interested in the various perspectives on the safety and security of the built environment.
