Abstract
Tulse Luper Journey was a part of the bigger Tulse Luper Suitcases project, initially a visionary cross media approach of the English film director Peter Greenway. All in all, the story of the mysterious protagonist, Tulse Luper experiencing mythologized events of 20th century European history, is told through 3 motion picture productions, corresponding linear dvd productions, 16 part television series, website, consisting of multiple bigger projects, The Tulse Luper Journey an online game, interactive dvd’s, books and a traveling exhibition.
Tulse Luper Journey project aimed at producing interactive animations as a part of a narrative multiplayer on-line game based on Peter Greenaway’s film trilogy. The task was to re-mix and remediate fragments of Greenaway’s epic narrative in Flash programming environment into interactive puzzle games and one minute short films, so called Suitcases.
The Tulse Luper Journey was a collaborative non-commercial artistic research project with different European media and visual art schools, universities and artists coordinated by the Dutch production company Submarine. The aim of the whole Tulse Luper Journey project was to produce 92 suitcases for the on-line game. Crucible, as Media Lab’s interactive narrative research and development studio produced 25 of the Suitcases. I was involved with the creation of 8 out of those 25 Suitcases as a screenwriter, director and visual artist and in the end produced seven one-minute films, four games and two game concepts.
The works made in the context of Tulse Luper Journey in Crucible, Media Lab, University of Art and Design Helsinki was shown also at "The Beta Lounge", Ars Electronica Campus Exhibition in 2006.
