Abstract

textual repetition is a participatory performance taking place in the library of Villa Terminus for the PAB Open Festival. Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen will in this space facilitate a durational and processual reading anchored in the books already present in this room and connected to site-specific topics, where Madsen will bring additional three books important for their research in affect and performance art. People visiting the room will be invited to read selected lines from this mix of books and repeat them, in a loop, knowing that these will never be exactly the same, but have difference inscribed through their continuous enunciation as repetitions (this is done with a nod to the philosopher Gilles Deleuze's Difference and Repetition, which is one of Madsen's chosen books). The performance wants people to read together, with their voices overlapping, multiplying, coming together and creating new affective constellations and resonances. When there are no audience members reading, the artist will read aloud alone. The lines are chosen randomly by slipping cardboard paes into the books which isolate the lines. each audience member chooses their own book to read and slide the page into.

The performance has a duration of 2,5 hours.
