Similarity plays an important role in providing unity for music, so composers and music analysts alike can benefit from similarity measures. This paper discusses the properties of bsf, a similarity measure for twelve-tone rows, estimates stochasti-cally its behaviour, and devises an efficient compu-tation for it and other comparable measures.
