Abstract

Sparse arrays can resolve vastly more scatterers than the number of sensors in tasks such as coherent source localization. This entails significant cost reductions compared to conventional arrays with uniformly spaced elements. In this paper, we introduce a parametric sparse linear array configuration called the Klove array (KA). The KA has a contiguous sum and difference co-array, making it suitable for both active and passive sensing. We show that KAs of any size can have both low redundancy, and few closely spaced elements. This may improve robustness in the face of mutual coupling.1
