Abstract

Situations4x belongs to a series of experimental setups in mobile imaging, which anticipated some possible uses of camera phones in social situations. It aimed at presenting a critical approach to technology and its use in the everyday by focusing on the lives of less privileged users: those whose lives are not essentially mobile and who do not have access to the latest mobile devices. Situations4x particularly looked at how the everyday life of the three participating families was performed. It also paid attention to the performativity of the technical platform developed for the construction of the participatory narratives. The lives of the three families in the Helsinki region were brought together into an audiovisual presentation that organized the mms narratives thematically. The image site was also open for audience participation.
