Abstract
This work describes a microfluidic platform that enables simultaneous drug screening (here, paclitaxel) with cell monolayers (2D) and 3D cell spheroids in a single microchannel. Controlled overexposure of organically modified ceramics was exploited to create concave microwells of tunable size and shape by single-step lithography. Cell adherence was locally controlled by physico-chemical surface treatment to create cell-repellent microwells for spheroids and cell-adherent planar areas for cell monolayers.
