Abstract

The neighbourhood Peltosaari was built during 1970's and 1980's next to Riihimäki city centre about 70 kilometres north from Helsinki. Peltosaari has a direct connection with railway and bus stations, and other major services. The largest amount of social housing owned by the city of Riihimäki situates in the western side of the area. Centralized social housing and biased population structure cause social problems. The market prices of the apartments in the area are remarkably lower than in other areas with similar location in relation to station and services.
