Abstract
In this paper multi-user multi-band scheduling algorithms are proposed for cognitive radio networks. Potential field models are used in the scheduling algorithms to characterize the link qualities and interference in the network radio environment with the intention of allocating the spectrum to the secondary user links with good channel conditions. The proposed scheduling enables taking fairness into account by monitoring the total en route durations of the packets, which can then be used to give higher priority to packets with long delays. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed scheduling algorithms in this paper provide a good trade-off between the average end-to-end packet delay and the maximum packet delay.
