Abstract
Plantasia is a collection of flora gathered in the darkroom.
Plantasia is about remembrance and imagination. The shapes it presents are dragged from the subconscious by a hand that struggles to control a laser. The movement of the light is unpredictable, and a well-thought-out image is always doomed to fail. The light falls somewhere on the paper and the drawing can only continue from there.
Oh! Is that a stamen or a branch? And a bloom, a cone?
Naukkarinen produces her collection of unique plantlikes with analog methods on expired photographic papers.
The exhibition is part of the Helsinki Darkroom Festival, and the exhibition program at Sushibar+Wine City is managed by Aalto ARTS Photography students.
