Abstract

We demonstrate the operation of a four beam optical scheme realizing unitary Fourier transform. We show the high degree of control over the interference picture despite its complexity. Based on the devised scheme we propose an original phase estimation procedure employing maximum likelihood estimation and incorporating additional scheme modification. The present work is an extension of the research in quantum computations with linear optics.
