Abstract

In this paper, we discuss strategies to simultaneously plan production and optimize the energy usage, aiming at a truly optimal production strategy comprising all relevant cost components. Some motivation for the work comes from national studies that are summarized in the paper. Furthermore, we highlight some important features of an energy management tool, followed by discussion of optimization and integration strategies with some practical real-world examples from the authors' experience.
