Abstract
The exhibition presents interesting contemporary phenomena in ceramic art and increase awareness of ceramics as a material, as well as highlights the diverse know-how and richness of ceramics in Finland. The exhibition features contemporary artists, designers and artisans.
The theme of the exhibition On the Edge - At the Edge reflects ceramic art in constant change and Finland's Arctic location on the edge of Europe. The exhibition is part of a virtual congress of the same name with the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in the autumn, through which the exhibition will receive significant attention worldwide in the member countries of the IAC. The aim is to strengthen and increase the appreciation of ceramic culture and the international recognition of Finnish ceramic art.
The exhibition is curated by Veikko Halmetoja and Riikka Latva-Somppi. The most northern Arctic Ceramics Center (ACC) in the world is the producer of the exhibition. The Ceramic Center offers artists a unique opportunity to focus their work in Posio, a peaceful area surrounded by beautiful Arctic nature.
