Abstract

This paper explores how Object Theatre can workas a means to facilitate social engagement andstorytelling in the early phases of participatorydesign field interviews. In the paper we draw onObject Theatre practice (Myatt & Watt, 2012) andon Theatre Improvisation (Johnstone, 1987) andpresent Object Interviews through two empiricalexamples. We address sensitive topics in researchinterviews with different participants by engagingthem through 1) Revised Object Probe and 2)Object Classroom Theatre. Object Interviewsfunction as mutual storytelling, interaction andimprovisation between those involved serving thediscovery of novel aspects to cover in design.
