Abstract
"Moonshine Prince (Månskensprinsen)" (Costume design) was exhibited in 'A Rare Gathering' Greek ECR at PQ23
A new musical theatre play on an allegorical story about a young prince living during the night, cared for by his ghost mother and three elves that glow in the dark. The prince discovers the world of daylight when he departs on a journey towards maturity and self-realisation. How can these two worlds be reflected in the costumes? Which world is the “real” one? The costumes reveal the diverse realities of night and day through experimentation with textures and elaboration of material surfaces. This design is the outcome of a “rare” creative collaboration focused on materiality and light with my team of seamstresses, milliner, makeup and hair designer, wig makers and lighting designer. A high level of professionalism by every team member, combined with expertise, honest feedback and great humour. After working for six months, this production became a “rare encounter”, performed only once for the audience and discontinued by the arrival of Covid in Finland.
