Aircraft electrification rises up the development of the electrical actuation systems. Airbus 380 is a typical more electrical aircraft featured with diverse electrical systems, such as the Local Electro-Hydraulic System (LEHS) for the actuation of the landing gear. Aircraft systems are frequently equipped with components provided by specialized manufacturers. However, component manufacturers usually offer only limited information, especially for their latest technology. This makes the system design challenging for easily establishing an object oriented model. This paper presents a system level modelling method with a study case of a Direct Drive Servo Valve (DDSV) in a LEHS. The modelling utilizes only a schematic diagram of the servo valve and its test-bench, as well as rough test results supplied by the component manufacturer but relies on no dimension data. A model for the valve is proposed based on existing literature. However, the simulation results demonstrated a mismatch with the manufacturer’s test data. Therefore, the model was refined through adding sensor effects. This allowed the model to improve the agreement with all the manufacturer’s test results.For a purchased servo valve with no detailed knowledge, its system level modelling method was proposed. Faced with limited component information, system designers can establish models by reviewing existing relevant models, adding characteristics from nonlinear effects and test-bench based on analysis and literature survey, and validating the model using test results.
