Abstract

In this paper, modal and operational deflection shape (ODS) measurements on a single disk type axial flux electrical machine are discussed. The mechanical characteristics of machine are measured in a test bench and a mechanical finite element (FE) model of the bench and the machine are generated. A modal comparison is done between the measurements and the FE analysis. ODS and modal modes are compared with discussion of methods to generate axial flux electromagnetic force response to mechanical FE model.
