    Abstract

Media Puppets project explores the future of media production through testing a collaborative production process, where a group of media helpers (media puppets) bridge the gap between events and journalists. The media puppets photograph, videotape and microblog at events, uploading all the material online in real time. In addition, they facilitate interviews by organizing video calls between event performers and media professionals. All the material produced by the media puppets is published under Creative Commons licenses so that anyone interested can use it and process it according to their wishes. With this open production model, the Media Puppets project aims at supporting the discussion around interesting events online. At the same time, it aspires to examine how the time and effort put into media productions could be intensified by joining forces and allocating activities with other people interested in the same issues. Media Puppets concept was tested first time at the Nordic Cultural Commons Conference 2008 (http://www.hiit.fi/nccc/) conference in October 22th23th.
