Abstract

Previously, we have revealed an efficient light trapping performed by arrays of cross-like substantially thick metal nanoantennas. This light trapping implied a broad spectrum of solar light concentrated in a subwavelength depth of the semiconductor substrate. In this review paper, we show that our arrays support so-called leaky domino-modes, responsible for the broadband resonant absorption in the substrate. We have thoroughly studied the main properties of these modes, which turned out to be very unusual for the optical frequency range.
