Abstract

In the popular culture, the myth about the perennial conflict between science and religion prevails. According to historian of science Peter Harrison the conflict view is not only wrong, but impossible. The concept "religion" in his view originated only in the 17th century, whereas the concept of "science" originated in the late 19th century.
