    Abstract

Intervention to Urban Space presents an art form that addresses issues of space, theory, presentation and appropriation through artistic means.
In the context of art intervention refers to a site and time speci c work that takes place outside traditional modes of pre- sentation. Intervention manifests the shi from dimensional art objects to encounters in lived space. It takes a stand to an existing space or situation, and poses questions about artistic practices and authorship. An artistic intervention is thus a continuously changing concept, challenging to encounter the unknown.
e “Pori School” (2004–2014), the concrete starting point for thought and works was a practice of the Visual Culture MA program of Aalto University, in which teaching, art and research was brought out of classrooms and galleries. It provided and intersection for artistic research, urban studies and activism, where the roles of researcher, teacher, curator, artist and citizen overlapped through non-hierarchical practices
