Abstract
Ensuring the thermal comfort of elderly individuals in warm indoor environments is critical due to the greater vulnerability they have to heat stress. Local cooling devices have the potential to alleviate thermal stress. The purpose of this study was to compare the elderly's local skin temperature and thermal sensation before and after using table fan, evaporative cooling device, and air-cooled jacket under different environments. The research findings contribute to understanding the reactions of elderly individuals in hot environments, providing insights for the indoor environment design of buildings such as nursing homes. Additionally, this study aids in the enhancement of personalized cooling device design.
