the solar wind.
With the Ultra Low Frequency (ULF) waves having a major importance for the
dynamics of the outer radiation belt, the measurement of the magnetic field intensity, the
electron energy spectrum and estimating the plasma density is required for this mission.
The spacecraft includes the MAST magnetometer, the Relativistic Electron and
Proton Experiment (REPE) and the Coulomb Drag Experiment (CDE).
In order to characterize the ULF waves and the CD force, the apogee altitude is
required to be larger than five Earth radii and the perigee altitude between 250 and 500 km
with the inclination of less than 30 degrees.
The mission lifetime is required to be at least six months.
For a 6U CubeSat this mission resembles several challenges and problems that have
to be overcome to achieve a successful mission.
Communication is heavily influenced by the long distances.
Radiation is orders of magnitude higher.
As high elliptical orbits are very much depending on the launch time, the end of
lifetime has to be thought of.
The science case with measurement, instrument and mission requirements, as well as
the orbit analysis with the platform design is presented in detail.
