Abstract

Cedric Price’s famous picture of the city as an egg from classical to modern is a good way to analyse the recent strategic plan of Helsinki, particularly the extension of the core and compaction between suburban neighbourhoods. This return to the ’boiled egg’ is however agaist international research results. For instance, the network theory requires rather to concentrate on connections and cooperation - something that still are lacking in the contemporary strategies.
