gritulator: Grid Converter Simulator in Python

Open-source simulation tools are gaining interest in academia as they allow to share knowledge and experience between researchers. Furthermore, they are useful instruments for educational purposes. This paper presents gritulator, an open-source Python-based simulator, for grid converters. The simulator is available in GitHub at The structure of the simulator, and selected models and control methods are introduced. To illustrate the simulator in use, two converter-control examples are given and their simulated waveforms are compared with corresponding experimental measurements.
