Abstract
In this study, we review the literature on value frames in the context of sustainability. We find three frames that guide interpretation of sustainability; dogmatic, instrumental and paradoxical. We demonstrate how organisations with these value frames view sustainability, how their critiques view these organisations and why. Moving beyond corporate sustainability, in this paper we aim to demonstrate the pluralism at the inter-organisational level which explains the complexity of negotiations regarding a greener and a more inclusive future. As a result of our review, we expand the framework proposed by Dyllick and Hockerts (2002) from corporate sustainability to organisations at large. Hereby we contribute to a greater understanding of what we term organisational sustainability.
